Webinar 2 – Production of scrap metals and their valorisation into coagulants for wastewater treatment

In May 2024, we held our second project webinar, with a focus on scrap metals recycling and how the LIFE Waste2Coag project contributes to their valorisation. The online event featured presentations from project partners and sector experts and was hosted by Isle Utilities.

Mr José Luis Caravaca García, Senior Executive Director at José Jareño S.A. (Spain), opened the webinar with a keynote address, highlighting the key market shifts in scrap metals recycling over the last few years, particularly in the Spanish market.

Following that, our project coordinator, Dr Feliu Sempere Nácher (Global Omnium), introduced the LIFE Waste2Coag project and its electrolytic technology (ELS), used to produce sustainable coagulants for wastewater treatment, by valorising brines and scrap metals.

Furthermore, Ms Laura Grima Carmena (AIDIMME), provided an overview of how scrap metals are used in the project to manufacture the electrodes for the ELS technology and the challenges that were overcome in terms of quality requirements, shape, market price and availability.

This is the second webinar in a three-part series. If you missed any of our previous webinars, you can watch them on our YouTube channel:
