LIFE Waste2Coag 1st Innovation Workshop Showcases Progress in Sustainable Wastewater Treatment

On March 26th, 2025, the 1st Innovation Workshop for the LIFE Waste2Coag project took place at AIDIMME’s facilities in Valencia (Spain). The event, hosted by Isle Utilities, in collaboration with AIDIMME, highlighted major advancements in sustainable wastewater treatment.

At the centre of the LIFE Waste2Coag project is the Electrolytic System (ELS), a novel technology that generates coagulants from brines and metal scraps. This approach offers an alternative to conventional coagulant production processes, improving the sustainability of current brine management processes and reducing dependence on non-renewable resources.

The Innovation Workshop brought together key industrial stakeholders to review the results of the demonstration of the ELS in an industrial wastewater treatment plant. Feedback was highly positive, with participants recognising the potential of the  technology  for cost savings in brine management and coagulant purchase, valorisation of waste products, and alignment with circular economy principles.

Next steps include testing the ELS technology in municipal wastewater treatment settings. A second Innovation Workshop is planned to explore the commercial potential of the technology in this sector.

We are now featured in the Smart Water Magazine – check out our press release on the 1st Innovation Workshop!
